Still Shining centers the voices, stories, and creative expression of NYCGMC’s Black singers. Through powerful solos and personal testimony, backed by members of the chorus, the concert explores the richness and complexity of living at the intersection of Black and queer identities. Created in the spirit of Juneteenth, Still Shining honors freedom, resilience, cultural memory, and the brilliance carried across generations. It is an evening of music and storytelling shaped by the people whose experiences it celebrates, affirming that Black queer voices have always been present, powerful, and still shining.
